Uwharrie National Forest Wildfire Update - 3/6/2025
The Bates Trail #723 is currently closed due to the Falls Dam Fire. Visitors are asked to avoid this trail until further notice.
Uwharrie Hunt Camp parking lot improvements continue today. Work is expected to be completed by 5:00 p.m.; however, temporary closures and delays will occur at the intersection of Moccasin Creek Road and Reservation Road. The public can access Moccasin Creek Road by taking Mullinix to McLean's Creek Road.
The Falls Dam Fire is 85% contained and looking good. When they checked it yesterday, there was still some heat in heavy fuels (logs and snags) in the interior, but all lines were holding.
Humidity levels are expected to drop lower than previously anticipated the next few days so the Uwharrie National Forest will NOT be doing any prescribed burning after all.
